    Hi,
    
             thanks for that tip as well. But I have an old Cherry kezboard 
    with german lazout (z and y flipped and kezs for öäüß). Since my 
    correspondence is 50/50 german/english I rather not miss it, since I can 
    type English easily on a german keyboard layout, the other way around it is 
    just a pita. Not to play the devil's advocate here, but the KVM and wild 
    switching orgies work fine on Windope, which somehow makes me believe more 
    that sth in Linux isn't working the way it should.
    
             I looked at the prices of the Startech KVM that Bob mentioned. The 
    "cheapest" I've seen it was for 73$ with the cables....grmpff. :(
