    Anyone? Dave? Guys?

Up until this point in my linux admin chores I've always used the
available GUI configuration tools to create devices attached to the
    system. No big deal!

On my prior AIX systems it was quite easy with IBM's implementation of
    xxdev commands.

I am now setting up a pure ubuntu 6.06.1 "server" version which has no
GUI and no such graphical device manager. I am trying to create/define
    a printer attached to the COM1 port. I'll be a son-of-a-gun but I
cannot seem to figure out how to accomplish this. I've looked at
MAKEDEV and mknod without a solution.

Therefore, someone, somewhere MUST have already been able to do this
with the CLI. Any suggestions, instructions, pointers, etc? I just
want to get this little device define so I can begin adding it to cups.

    Thanks

    Bob
