The real world surfs with javascript and cookies turned on. This happens to be the default settings in the 3 biggest browsers and something like 99%+ of all people are too lazy to even change their default font size, much less figger ut that thar teknikal stuff. If someone is surfing with these things turned off, then they definitely know what they are doing and already know they're not getting any fancy effects; don't worry about it. Just be kind and make sure your forms submit properly without scripting! Surf the site with lynx and make sure it works. If you're going to do it without script then resign yourself that you're going to have to do page refreshes, the XMLHttpRequest thing, or simplest of all, fudge your dialog with some kind of timed animation. Just figure out, on average, how long the processing takes and put up a page with animation for that long + n before forwarding on. Pages have been doing this since, well, a really really long time ago when there was just the barest form of javascript and XMLHttpRequest was just a glimmer in Steve "The Windbag" Balmer's eye. ~Jason --
